Essie Nail Polish - Pink about it

Just a short post today so you can see the Essie nail polish in 'pink about it'. This is the first essie nail polish that I've bought and it was a bit of an impulse buy as it was only £2.50 from fragrance direct. I've really been into pastel nails lately ready for spring (although it's still definitely winter here in the uk).

This nail polish also has hints of glitter which you can see in this close up. They are harder to see on the nails, I used two coats which brought out the colour more, although I think it made the glitter a lot harder to see. I can't wait to wear this colour in the spring/summer sun!

NOTD: Barry M Gelly Nail Polish

As you may have noticed I haven't posted in a few days now, this is because I moved back to uni over the weekend now that the Christmas break is over *sad face*. Going back to uni means I've had more work to do and less time to blog, but don't worry, I have a lot of posts planned that are coming up soon such as product empties, a haul and some more reviews so stay tuned for them. Today is a... NOTD

NOTDBarry M Gelly Nail Paint in 'Blueberry' with a Topshop nail polish in 'Beleza' over the accent nail. I love this blueberry shade, I think it can be worn all the way through the year. In the summer spring and summer I think it'll look good on it's own whereas here as it's winter I decided to add a bit of blue/silver over the top of one to add a little sparkle.

Here are some other ideas I had of what you could do to wear one nail polish in different ways.
(L-R)
1. One coat of the Barry M Gelly nail paint.
2. Two coats of the Barry M Gelly nail paint.
3. Technic 'Celebration' on top of the Barry M Gelly nail paint.
4. Technic 'Carnival' on top of the Barry M Gelly nail paint.
5. A Ted Baker golden glitter (which can be seen here) over the Barry M Gelly nail paint.
6. Topshop 'Beleza' over the Barry M Gelly nail paint.
7. Gems on top of the Barry M Gelly nail paint.

What's in my Make-up Bag

I've seen quite a few 'what's in my make-up bag' posts lately so I thought it was about time I showed you all what's in my make-up bag. I only have a selection of products with me because I'm still on my Christmas break from uni (going back tomorrow), so it's basically my every day make-up with a few different/extra eyeliners and lip products. I also haven't included other bits that were in my make-up bag such as brushes (because I really need some new ones) and hair bands/grips.

How to: Make your own Gift-tags

This post, as you may be able to tell from the title, is a little different to anything I've done on here before. As Christmas has now passed and all of the decorations have been put away, something I like to do (along with my family) is to 're-cycle' the Christmas cards and turn them into gift-tags for the next Christmas. I know this post  might not be appropriate to some of you right now as Christmas was a few weeks ago now and most of you have probably thrown out or put away or whatever you usually do to your cards. But, you could use this idea not only for Christmas but birthdays or whatever other occasion too!

A photo of the gift tags I made this year
The gift-tags I made this year.

How?
There aren't any 'rules' on how to do this, you could use you own ideas but this is how I make them...

                                                   What you'll need:
                                                  Cards
                                                 Ribbon
                                               Hole puncher
                                                 Stapler
Fancy craft scissors (or plain scissors)
How-to:
  1. Simply pick out from your selection of cards the ones which you want to use. Some cards which are scenic or are too large you probably won't want to use, unless you want to make really big tags.
  2. Cut out the part you want to use as the gift-tag whether it's a robin, snow man, Santa, etc. I use craft scissors which leave a nice frilly cut around the edge of the gift-tag but you can use any type of scissors that you want.
  3. Next you'll need to use a hole puncher and make a hole in the top/side of each one.
  4. For this next part I use ribbons which you usually use to decorate presents with. You don't have to use these you could use other types of ribbons, lace, string or whatever you want.
  5. And the last step is to staple the end of the ribbon and there you have your finished gift-tags!

Let me know what you think of this type of posts and if you'd like to see more random (or fashion/hair/beauty) how-to's.
I hope you liked it!

Maybelline Colossal Mascara Review

Hello lovely readers, so here's a post that I've been meaning to do for SO long! It's the Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara. Out of all of the mascara's I've ever used I think this one has to be my absolute favourite! It's the first and only mascara I've used by Maybelline and I've seen a lot of good reviews about them. When I went out to buy one it did take me a while to decide which one to get before I chose this one.

A photo of the Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara
You can get it here, the price is really good from the quality you're getting as I've paid over £10 for mascaras that aren't as good as this Maybelline Colossal Mascara. From the image above on the right you can see the type of brush has been created to give you the volume, as it says on the tin! In my opinion, these brushes work a lot better than the rubber ones which I had previously, although I guess it depends on your personal preference!

A photo of my eye without the mascara
left eye, no mascara
Here (above) you can see my eyelashes before applying the Maybelline Colossal volum' express mascara.

right eye, with this mascara
And here you can see the massive difference with a layer of this mascara on (sorry about the change of eye). Not only has it added the volume but it's also added a lot of length too which makes this a great all round mascara!

There are a lot of mascara's out there which I'd like to try out but I think this Maybelline mascara will always stay as one of my favourites. What are your favourite mascara's?

December/2013 Favourites

Rather than doing an 'end of year' or '2013' favourites I thought I'd stick to doing a monthly December favourites! This is simply because I don't feel that I have any way near enough favourite products of the whole year to talk about or even here with me (being at home on Christmas holidays) because I've left some things which I haven't needed these past couple of weeks at uni. So, here's my December favourites...

First up is the Sunkissed eyeshadow and bronzer which I just think are brilliant, these eyeshadows are also great over the maybelline 24hr tattoo eye shadow in 'permanent taupe'. These are available here

MUA lipstick in shade #13, available from superdrug here. Not only am I doing a review on this soon because it's one of my favourite lipsticks but it's also £1 and I highly recommend it!

For protecting your hair against heat this is the best product that I've found (so far) and it's available here.

I always like to keep a lip balm of some sort in my handbag and recently it's been this one from Vaseline. Available here.

Another favourite of mine from this month (a non-beauty) favourite has to be the show New Girl! I've always seen parts of episodes on e4 before and finally decided to sit down and watch them in order. I really do love it and I'm now onto the second series!

What have been your favourites through December or of 2013?

2014 and Wish List: THE SALES!!!

I found this on pinterest (here) and thought it was a great thought to start the new year with!

I hope you all had a good time celebrating the new year last night/today, Happy New Year to all of you lovely readers! Yesterday it made it 4 months since I had written and posted my first blog post and I can't believe how well my blog has done, getting nearer and nearer to my first milestone now.. 100 followers! That itself gives me so much motivation to continue to post regularly (when I'm back at uni it does get a lot harder) but I'm going to try and post at least twice a week. Another resolution, or more of an aim is to get myself a part-time job this year so that I will be a lot better off financially. But, I can only TRY with this because I've been applying and going to job interviews for a while and I still don't have one so we'll see and hopefully it'll happen very soon!

Anyway, on with what this post was originally aimed at.. my wish list of the sales!

5. Miss Selfridge top £15.00
7. No.7 Mirror £15.99

Do you have any new years resolutions? What's on your wish list?
