Born Pretty Store Lipstick Review

If you've seen some of my most recent blog posts you'll know that I've been obsessing over lip products lately. From lip liners and balms to lipsticks my most recent lip product to talk about is this rhombus shaped expert color lipstick by Born Pretty Store* in shade #108, available here.

I wasn't sure when I received this lipstick if the shade was going to be too bright for me and to not suit my pale skin tone. However I really like this shade, although the photo shows a bright orange colour it isn't anyway near that bright maybe you could build it up to that with a few more layers but I actually prefer the way it did show up on my lips. When applying this lipstick with the rhombus shape was at first quite odd but it still does the job and gives it a different look to your ordinary lipstick. The formula is also great, it's quite creamy and soft and although you need to top it up throughout the day I'm really enjoying wearing this shade at the moment. Even if it isn't the usual shade I'd go for during autumn.

Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner Review

One make-up item which I think I need more of in my collection has to be lip liners. I have thin lips which I think lip liners make look a lot more fuller than just using a lipstick, although I still often forget to use them. So one of my latest beauty purchases has been this Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in 'Eastend snob' which was only £3.99.

Firstly, the shade of this lip liner is absolutely amazing. I think it has to be one of my favourite lip products just due to the shade, if you know any lip sticks which are similar to this please let me know because I've even been wearing this on its own without a lipstick on top because I'm that obsessed with this shade. I loved the shape of the end of this lip liner because I haven't seen any like that before they're usually just pointed. Although now that I've used this product quite a few times the shape has been lost, especially because it's not one you can sharpen, but nevertheless it's still a good product.

The shade on the lips is very true to what you see in the packaging and it does have a great staying power although I find it does get quite drying over a long period of time. These Rose pink shades are my favourite at the moment now that we're into autumn, but I'm still loving the darker shades too which I'm looking forward to wearing more of in the winter months. For just £3.99 I think I'll definitely have to purchase a few more of these lip liners from their wide range of shades.

Revlon Colour Burst Matte Balm Review

Revlon are a brand which I never use to think of much but now I've realised just how good their products are and they are creeping into my daily makeup routine. From foundation and powder to mascara this is now my first lip product by Revlon and it was definitely a good choice! I purchased the Revlon Color Burst Matte Balm from Boots, here for £7.99, although Boots are currently still doing their 2 for £10 on Revlon products which means you can get some real bargains.

 The shade is 'Elusive' which is a lovely light rose pink colour, a shade I don't usually go for. I have to say I don't own too many pink lip products but this one has definitely made me want to try out more because I was surprised at by how much it suits my pale skin tone. I was also surprised by the minty scent this balm has, I wasn't sure about this at first but I think it's definitely grown on me, I'm much more use to the ordinary lip stick scent.

I like how Revlon have also made the packaging matte to match the formula, and they've done a good job of getting the colour of the packaging to an almost exact match to the product shade which I don't think we get to see too often. It makes it much easier to find amongst a drawer of lip products too rather than the lipsticks which all have the same colour packaging. Another thing I love about this lip product is the twist up part, I prefer this so much more to having to sharpen the end, although this gets you a pointed end I think this is much easier for on the go too. I'm looking forward to trying more from this range, they're so easy to apply and they've got so many colour options some that aren't matte too.

Revlon Lash Potion Mascara Review

In my recent Boots Haul I re-purchased the Revlon Lash Potion mascara in 'Blackest Black' for £9.99. When it comes to mascaras I always like to try out new ones rather than going back for the same product like I would usually with something like foundation or concealer. This mascara however I absolutely love and haven't seen another as of yet which I can see myself buying instead of this beauty. Not only do I love the mascara itself but the packaging is so bright and sparkly, it stands out in my makeup collection and who doesn't like nice packaging to look at?

When I'm buying mascara I always go for the darkest shade, this 'blackest black' is the darkest amongst the other options Revlon have such as 'blackened brown' and I think it looks so much better as my eyelashes without mascara can look a little dull in colour as well as length. The brush has 'triple bristles' to prevent clumps which I much prefer to the rubber wands and brushes and I've noticed that although there is sometimes a clump of mascara at the tip of the brush that my eyelashes still remain to be clump free!

As you can see from the before and after photos, this mascara has made a big difference to my lashes, and this is with just the one application. I know some people like to wait for it to dry before applying another layer but this is something that I rarely do myself. As well as the dramatic colour difference to my lashes you can also see the length that it adds. If you're looking for a lot of volume to your lashes I maybe wouldn't recommend this mascara but as a very good every day mascara and especially if you want to add length I would completely recommend this one. I've also just noticed it's still 2 for £10 on some Revlon items so that's even more of an excuse, right?

Review: Paperchase Recipe File

After realising all of my recipe's were scattered on bits of paper, in random recipe books and on my blog, I thought it was time to get them organised and put them all together in one file! So as I love stationary and organising so much anyway I knew the place to go would be PAPERCHASE! *Celebratory dance*

Paperchase have so many different files to choose from with different designs on the front too, so the one I chose is this 'Hand-drawn recipe file' (available online here). This file costs £15.00 which to begin with I did think it was a little pricey for somewhere to keep your recipes in but it actually has so many different compartments inside, is designed so well with the little hand drawings throughout the file and it even comes packaged in a nice box!

So here are some photo's of what's inside, and yes, that is a chocolate cupcake in a tea cup case..

I have started to write some of my recipes in this book but I haven't quite decided which order I want things in yet. I've also decided to only write down recipes I've actually used and know are great - and one of my favourite things about this file is that there are little pockets throughout the file to keep little magazine cuttings and notes for recipes you might want to try out before actually writing them down. And if you do write a recipe in the 'wrong' section of the book or want to rearrange some of the pages, you can due to it being a ring binder!

It includes stickers for the tabs and stickers for you to write your own label and even a conversion chart which I know I'll find useful. It also includes a 'dinner party' planning section which is great - I'll just have to throw a party for an excuse to use it, right?

Fleur de Force - The Glam Guide Book Review

A few years ago before blogging and youtubing became as popular as it is now, I was on youtube and there was a video which was 'recommended' for me to watch. And that was one by Fleur, also known as Fleur De Force. Since watching that first video about 4/5 years ago I've been watching Fleur's video's ever since which then led to me watching other Youtuber's and reading blogs and getting more and more into beauty and fashion which eventually made me want to create my own blog.

So, with Fleur's book The Glam Guide coming out (available here) and with a book tour I really wanted to pop along to one of the tour destinations but as I was working on that day I missed out on meeting Fleur, however I did pop along later to purchase the book anyway - and even managed to pick up a signed copy!

There's so much more to this book than just beauty and fashion which is something I love about it. There's also tips on travel, health and fitness and general lifestyle as well of course blogging and youtube. Not only has Fleur written about these sections she has also included tutorials and recipes and little tricks that she has picked up over the years.

In the beauty section she talks about some of her favourite products and tips on how to create the perfect outcome. Something I've personally learnt from the beauty section is an easier way to apply liquid eye-liner, as well as a few other tips on lipstick and concealer too.

Something I've never thought about doing until now, is making my own face masks. There's so many different ingredients you can use depending out what skin type you have and what you want to improve and Fleur has included a few different ones of these. Although I'm yet to try out any of these recipes so far, I'll be sure to write a post on how it goes.

The hair tutorials in this book are also really good, especially the plaits. There's one of them which I've actually managed to do myself which is quite unbelievable because things like that never seem to really work with my hair for some reason. There's also a whole section on fashion which has some great tips on things like how to find the right pair of jeans and some classic pieces which everyone should have in their wardrobe. At the end of the different sections in the book there's also a double page on '10 Quick Tips'. I think these are really handy, as you can see above they're just little things which you wouldn't have thought of which would really help a lot - the coat button nail polish trick is something I'll be doing if one falls off.

Food and fitness are also something I love that Fleur has included in her book. If you're a regular visitor to my blog then you may have seen the amount of baking I've been doing recently (and there's more to come). I absolutely love making smoothies, especially in the summer and I'll definitely be trying some of Fleur's recipes. The fitness section is also so motivating, the calorie converter definitely makes me think more about how much exercise you have to do to burn off a pizza or ice cream!

I really enjoyed reading Fleur's book and completely recommend it (especially if you've read this far into the post) whether you're a regular visitor to her channel and blog or not. My favourite sections have to be be the beauty, hair and food sections, I can't wait to try out some of the recipes. I also love the design of her book, the watercolour paint like marks on the pages and the little illustrations throughout the book just complete it.
