January Favourites

I haven't written a monthly favourites in so so long but seen as I've been wearing these quite a lot this month, I thought I would share them with you.

NYX Lip Liner (Sugar Glass) and NYX Lipstick Suede (SandStorm) - This NYX lip duo has been my favourite thing to wear on my lips this month, I've been looking for the perfect nude shade and I think this could be it. I'll actually be writing a blog post on this duo soon so stay tuned to see some swatches.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - This foundation is the first 'high-end' foundation I've actually tried and I love it! It lasts all day and there's not another foundation I've tried so far that can beat it.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish (25/Plump it up) - I've been wearing this nail polish almost all of January, it's a lovely deep purple shade and perfect for winter months before I start to reintroduce my bright spring polishes.

Lucifer TV show - Non-beauty favourite of the month has to be the TV show Lucifer, (although it's not actually on TV, it's available to watch on Amazon Prime). In this show Lucifer is the devil who has come back to earth and starts to work for the LAPD, I don't know what it is about detective shows but I just love them and they're even better when they have a twist too. Another favourite of mine at the moment is Grimm.

What have been your favourites this month?

Instagram Diary 01

It's been a long long time since I last posted an Instagram post here on my blog and I feel that my Instagram has changed a lot since then and still is changing. I've never really had a theme with my Instagram but from the New Year I decided I wanted to improve my photography (in-particular my photos of wildlife) and share more of it with you. So here are the photos I uploaded to Instagram over the last couple of weeks. If I keep up with posting on Instagram regularly these 'Diary' type posts may be regular too. If you don't already follow me you can do so here.

An Oyster Catcher by the sea at Culzean Castle in Scotland from the Summer. A lovely candle holder by Yankee Candle which a friend bought me for Christmas - it's so pretty. As part of my aim to post more wildlife photos, here's a photo from the lake district a couple of years ago of a posing Mallard.

If you follow me on Instagram already you'll probably know I love a sunset and this one was taken on a winter walk around the woods a couple of weeks ago. Another throwback to the lake district with a photo of these Canada Geese as I booked tickets to go and visit a friend in the lakes in a few weeks time and on one of my visits there before I got chased by these Geese wanting some more food. NYX are fast becoming one of my favourite makeup brands, this soft matte lip cream is one of my favourite pieces so far.

On another winter walk last week I managed to get some more photographs of wildlife, one bird which I'd never seen before was this Nuthatch. Finally getting around to paint my nails for the first time in a while, I went for a Tanya Burr nail polish in 'Little Duck' and attempted a bit of nail art too.

Don't forget to follow me here and let me know what your Instagram theme is.

Review: NYX Tame and Frame Brow Pomade

An aspect of makeup that I've been wanting to improve on for a while are brows. I'm one of the probably few bloggers that have never had their eyebrows waxed or threaded and just used a brow pencil. From what I've seen in the blogging community the most raved about brow product in my eyes has to be the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. But there was no way I could justify spending around £15 when I had no clue how to use it or if I'd even like it. So I was obviously quite happy when I came across this NYX 'dupe' for a mere £5.50 in Boots.

I bought the NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade when I was in London and had to wait until the next week to use it after I'd taken these photos. But it was definitely worth the wait! The item is packaged in a little box, inside of which is this little pot of, which I'd call miracles. The pot itself is really slick with the clear pot and glossy black lid with the white text, this is only the second piece of makeup I own by NYX and I am really loving them as a brand so far.

Opening this pot was like when you see fresh snow in the winter and just want to dive straight in but also don't want to ruin it at the same time - *insert crazy face emoji*. I was torn between two shades, Chocolate or Brunette, I found Chocolate was more of a warm toned brown which was more similar to the brow pencil I'd previously been using to do my brows, and the Brunette shade was more of a cool toned brown but matched my hair colour more. So in the end after a debate on which colour to go for with my friends in the store, I decided to go for Brunette, and I'm so so glad that I did.

This is now my favourite brow product and although I don't use it every single time I leave the house, if I have time to apply it I will. For those quick trips to the shop I don't want to waste this amazing product. It's definitely one of my favourite pieces of makeup altogether at the moment and I will purchase this again when I do eventually run out. The photos below were taken before and after my first use of the brow pomade (a few weeks ago now) so although I think I did quite well for my first attempt, I think I've got a better hang of it now.

What are your favourite brow or NYX products?

Review: Myleene Klass Lipstick Trio

When I think of lipsticks or makeup in general a brand that doesn't usually come to mind is Myleene Klass. That is until I received these last Christmas! With a trio of 3 different shades and a lovely black and gold packaging, it's hard not to like these lipsticks just for that reason.

The three different shades are; Frida, which is a lovely orange shade which I probably get more wear out of in the Spring and Summer. Hedy is like a bubblegum pink, not something I would have usually picked out for myself but I actually really like it. And last but not least is my favourite of the three shades, Rosa. Rosa is a gorgeous red (my favourite kind of lipstick) and something I think you can get away with wearing all year round, day or night.

The staying power of these lipsticks are also really quite good too. When applying a red lip liner before gliding Rosa onto my lips, the lipstick really does stay on well - even when you're having a few drinks! The only down-side to these lipsticks is that I just can't find them anywhere online at the moment, they were originally purchased from Littlewoods so keep checking there around Christmas if you'd like to get some of these too.

Thanks for reading.

Lush Wishlist

When I was in London a few weeks ago I visited the Lush store on Oxford Street and oh wow I never knew there was one so big. I don't think I'd ever been into a Lush store with more than one floor before! Although I wanted to buy almost every item in there, I only came out with my favourite product which is the Comforter bubble bar (blog post coming soon). So I thought I'd share some of the other things I was lusting after with a Lush Wishlist.

1. Pink Flamingo Bubble Bar - Bubble bars are my favourite Lush product but I haven't tried one of them on a 'stick' before, plus what's not to like about the pink flamingo design.

2. Whoosh Shower Jelly - I remember years ago I had a purple sparkly shower jelly and I had no idea that Lush still do them or brought them back out! The relaxing scent that this jelly has too makes me want it even more.

3. Milky Bath Bubble Bar - I was tempted to buy this bubble bar another one? I know I know but it just looked so cute and I've heard milky bath products are good for the skin so what's not to love?

4. Let the good times roll Cleanser - I actually received a sample of this cleanser when I visited the Lush store because I remembered how AMAZING it smelt from another time. It's based on popcorn and I'm not the biggest fan of popcorn (unless it's toffee of course) but I think it's my favourite Lush smell and I will definitely be purchasing this beauty when I'm employed.

5. Lava Lamp Bath Bomb - I didn't get to see this bath bomb in action whilst I was in store but I own a lava lamp and love them so I'm hoping this would be just as fun to watch as it dissolves.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what you're favourite Lush products are!

Boots Spring Beauty Wishlist

It's been quite a while since I've posted a 'wish list' to my blog, I use to do monthly wish lists which I really enjoyed but lately (or all year) uni work has taken over pretty much everything. I haven't been able to post anywhere near as much as I've wanted to so bare with me and I'll try my best to keep this little space on the internet updated as much as possible. So, as I haven't really been buying many beauty products recently I thought I'd give you a Boots wish list with a mix of both makeup and skincare.

 1. Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colour - kiss me you fool - Red lipsticks are and I think always have been my favourite of the lip products and this one claims to last for 16 hours which sounds pretty impressive so I really want to get my hands on this!

2. L'Oreal Paris Infallible Sculpt Foundation - L'Oreal Paris have recently released this infallible sculpt range which I have so far been hearing some good things about. I'm always looking out for new foundations to try as I feel like I haven't found the PERFECT one yet. My current favourite is the Revlon Colour Stay foundation although sometimes I can find it a bit too heavy.

3. Yes to Tomatoes Pore Scrub - Pore scrubs have to be the best of the facial scrubs. Anything that minimises  pores the best that they can has to be a good thing, and I also love that this product contains so many natural ingredients which I wouldn't necessarily expect to find in a face scrub.

4. Superfacialist vitamin c+ gentle daily micro polish wash - This daily wash is one that I've been wanting to get my hands on for years now, I've heard a lot of good things about the Superfacialist range and I think it's about time I went out and bought this product.

5. Collection #concealandlightlikeapro palette - I've been looking for some colour correcting concealers that are affordable for a while now and when I saw this I couldn't believe how cheap it was considering it has some pretty great reviews. It's only £3.99 for 8 cream concealers so I think if I get the chance to purchase this palette, there'll definitely be a review coming up.
