Etsy Wishlist

I'm sure you've all heard of Etsy, but incase you haven't it's a website which you can have your own account or even business on. Where you can sell your handmade and vintage items and gifts. I'll hopefully be selling some of my own handmade gifts on there soon so keep your eyes peeled for that, but as I was browsing on there the other day I thought I'd create a little wishlist.

Above The Knuckle Rings - Jewellery is one of the most popular things on Etsy, in my opinion at least, so I had to pick out at least one piece to show you. I love these above the knuckle rings and you get 8 in a pack which I think is a lot compared to what you usually see in high street stores.

Mason Jar Light - If you could see my room you'd know that I probably have some kind of light obsession, from fairy lights around my fire place to candles and even electronic candles. And this mason jar light has to be next on my wishlist!

Dip Dyed Gift Tags - I've actually started making my own gift tags recently but when I saw these I thought it was such a good idea to dip-dye them and it means that every single one will be unique too.

Moleskine Notebook - I'm all about notebooks lately, whether they're for jotting down blogging ideas, ideas for projects at uni or just general to-do lists - or maybe even my secret plan to conquer the world....

Sweater Weather Is Better Weather Jumper - Let's face it, everyone's dying for Spring/Summer weather to hurry up at the moment but we all know sweater weather is better weather, right?

Pinterest Post #11 - Kitchenware

If you've seen some of my most recent posts you may have noticed I've been sharing my love for homeware bits and pieces and also how much baking I've been doing lately. So for today's post I thought I'd share with you some pretty kitchenware which I've seen on pinterest and now need in my life. These are just my top picks for my kitchenware pinterest board.

Vintage Floral Prints - I love these prints and especially on the vintage milk bottle, I'd much rather have this to put milk in in the fridge rather than those plastic bottles it comes in.

Mixer - If you can't already tell from the images above I really like pastels in kitchenware and this mixer is just lovely. I think I saw it recently on somewhere like The Great British Bake Off and they look so easy to use too.

Heart Shaped Dish - I spotted a lot of these around valentine's day earlier this year but I think they'd be great for the whole year, not just for one day, especially if you love baking like me.

Cute Bowls - These look so pretty together, and look at just how cute that little bird is.

Heart Shaped Measuring Spoons - I always seem to forget how useful measuring spoons and cups are and I'm yet to own some still. These heart shaped ones just make them even more worth having, right?

Ikea Wishlist

I can't quite it's March already! On the plus side I guess it means we can look forward to warm weather, right? So with a new month, as always here is a new wishlist. This months wishlist is all about Ikea! Believe it or not I've never actually been to an Ikea, I guess I've never really needed to and never had one close to me, but apparently I need to go to one, especially with being an interior design student. I know there's a lot of great storage and furniture in Ikea too but for this post I thought I'd stick to the smaller accessories which I'm now lusting over!

Cute Duvet Covers

I've been really into homeware sections of stores lately, to be honest, I always have! I love looking at cushions, candles and accessories for the home. Having quite small bedrooms both at home and away at university my bed (as in most bedrooms) takes up the most space and is the centre point of the room. I love adding throws and cushions to decorate it (we all love a comfy cushion, right?) which made me realise I tend to have quite plain duvet covers, so for today's post I thought I'd share with you some (not so plain) duvet covers which I've been lusting over recently.

Next - Designers Guild Mokuren Duvet Cover - I love the mixture of both monotones and bright colours in this duvet cover, it seems perfect for Spring, especially with the cute flowers.

John Lewis - Logan Blue Duvet Cover- Although this duvet seems quite plain still, I am a fan of the nautical/blue stripes which this duvet reminds me of, and I think it'd be nice for if you were looking for a unisex duvet cover.

Matalan - Toile Print Reversible Duvet Cover - I think this duvet cover has a bit of a vintage feel to it, and I really like how it's reversible too! I think it'd look great in a crisp white bedroom and you wanted to add a little bit of colour!

Yorkshire Linen Co. - Hounds Red Duvet Cover - You're either a dog person or a cat person and I'm definitely all for the dogs! I love the print of the dogs on this duvet cover, and with the white background it would fit in well with most bedroom designs.

Debenhams - Multi-coloured floral print 'Bliss' duvet cover - The bright florals on this duvet cover really stand out to me, I'd love waking up under this in the Spring/Summer months.

H&M Homeware Wishlist

Today is the 1st February, the start of another month! This past month has gone so fast, it only feels like only last week that I was buying Christmas presents. But as you know a new month means a whole new wish list - and this months is all about h&ms homeware section. I knew that h&m had a homeware section but I wasn't aware of how much it had grown lately until a friend of mine mentioned it and I had to check it out, as soon as I did I was bookmarking my favourite pieces ready to write this post!

Tea Cup Tea Towel - If you know how much I love drinking tea (it's slowly become a daily necessity) then you'll know why I like this tea towel so much, and look how cute those little teacups are!


Ceramic Jar with Bird - Storage jars like these come in handy so much, I have some that I'll use to keep in things such as teabags (I mean, what else?) or even in my room, you could even keep some make-up or something that you like to collect in it. I also like how the pastel colour also looks quite worn and vintage and of course the little bird handle on the lid.


Storage Basket - Clearly I'm a bit of a storage geek, two storage items in a row but this could come in handy for if like me you live in student accommodation and don't have too much furniture in your room, I have to keep some things together piled on top such as duvet covers and towels so I think this would be great to keep some of these in to keep them separate and more organised.


Floral Towel - This towel is so pretty, much more than the plain ones I currently own.


Moss-Knit Blanket - I really like the neutral colour of this blanket and the fabric and texture looks so soft and very different to the fleece style blankets I currently have in my room, it also looks like a very grown-up blanket too (I'm not even sure what I mean by that myself).

Bird Candles - Over Christmas I started a new little hobby of making my own candles (maybe a post coming soon?) and these bird shapes are so pretty, I want to be able to make some like these one day!

Tea Light Holders - Again, with my little recent candle obsession these would fit in so well with my room. And I also really love the rose gold finish on the inside of the holders.

Fleur Cushion Cover - I'm also a little bit of cushion collector, they're just so comfy and you can just throw them onto your bed anyhow and they'll look fab! I even still have a very old Busted cushion (the band) that must be about 10 years old!

Rabbit Paper Plates & Rabbit Paper Cups - My favourite animals are rabbit and anything with rabbits on I just, well, need really. Well, I don't but they're so cute aren't they?!

My 100th Post - No.7 2014 Illuminated Make-up Mirror Review

Last night I realised that this next post will be my 100th blog post! I can't quite believe that I've written that many posts in just over a year and a half. Sometimes I've had quite long breaks from blogging from either being just too busy to write posts or have a block from writing and not knowing what to write about next or even thinking that you're doing something wrong when you lose a couple of followers. Since the new year however, I have gotten back into blogging - with a change of name, domain and finally blogging about what I want without writing posts just because I felt I needed to. So hopefully I can now stick to uploading posts twice a week (every Sunday and Wednesday). And seen as it's my 100th post I decided to post a review, which I haven't done for a long long time and kind of miss writing them.

The Boots No.7 Illuminated mirror is something that I've lusted after for many years, and once I heard that they'd upgraded their mirror to a special '2014' edition I wanted it even more. It's only available from boots here, for £49.99 (although I treated myself to this in the sales for just £19.99). The reason I finally decided to purchase this mirror is due to getting up every day at 6am for work and at this time of year it is still so so dark that there's no day light and the light in my room doesn't help me much in applying my makeup.

After using this mirror for the first time I knew it was going to be one of my favourite purchases, and I can't believe how much of a bargain I managed to get it for! It's absolutely brilliant, I knew it was going to be good but I didn't know it could be this good. With the 360 degree light around the mirror you can see so clearly, the dimmer switch also allows you to choose how bright you want the mirror to be illuminated, depending on how light your room is or your personal preference.

There is also a ball point joint (if you get what I mean - top left photo) which enables you to be able to tilt the mirror back and forth and from side to side. It is also how you can turn the mirror around to the other side which is 5X more magnified which is incredibly clear! I tend to use the normal side much more but I find the magnified side makes doing your eyebrows and applying eyeliner A LOT easier.

After using this for around two weeks now I can't even believe how I coped applying my make-up before without this, it was so dark! Another plus is that it has a cable that you plug into the back of the base of the mirror and into the wall which saves on batteries too!

Home Interior Inspiration #1

Moving into a new student house has got me thinking about different layouts and things I can do with my new room (maybe it's just because I'm an interior design student) so I decided to have a look on pinterest for some inspiration and whilst I was at it I decided to write this post on some of my favourite finds! So, enjoy....

1. Fire - Who doesn't love a cosy fire?

2. Bricks - I like the look of these bricks and they could simply be used to brighten up your room!

3. Hanging chair - I think this would be great to read in or even blog in.

4. Hush pod - Imagine coming home from work/uni/school etc. to have an afternoon nap in this cosy pod!!

5. Fairy lights jar - I actually did this last year in my room and it looked so pretty.

6. Floral timber - This pattern would look cute on some timber shelves or maybe as floor boards if you really love your floral prints.

7. Shower - Is it just me that thinks this shower looks like so much fun? You'd be squeaky clean pretty quickly.

How to: Make your own Gift-tags

This post, as you may be able to tell from the title, is a little different to anything I've done on here before. As Christmas has now passed and all of the decorations have been put away, something I like to do (along with my family) is to 're-cycle' the Christmas cards and turn them into gift-tags for the next Christmas. I know this post  might not be appropriate to some of you right now as Christmas was a few weeks ago now and most of you have probably thrown out or put away or whatever you usually do to your cards. But, you could use this idea not only for Christmas but birthdays or whatever other occasion too!

The gift-tags I made this year.

How?

There aren't any 'rules' on how to do this, you could use you own ideas but this is how I make them...

                                                   What you'll need:
                                                  Cards
                                                 Ribbon
                                               Hole puncher
                                                 Stapler
                                 Fancy craft scissors (or plain scissors)

How-to:

1. Simply pick out from your selection of cards the ones which you want to use. Some cards which are scenic or are too large you probably won't want to use, unless you want to make really big tags.
2. Cut out the part you want to use as the gift-tag whether it's a robin, snow man, Santa, etc. I use craft scissors which leave a nice frilly cut around the edge of the gift-tag but you can use any type of scissors that you want.
3. Next you'll need to use a hole puncher and make a hole in the top/side of each one.
4. For this next part I use ribbons which you usually use to decorate presents with. You don't have to use these you could use other types of ribbons, lace, string or whatever you want.
5. And the last step is to staple the end of the ribbon and there you have your finished gift-tags!

Christmas and Boxing Day

Hello Everyone!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, I know I did! (I hope all of you that don't celebrate it had a great time too) Christmas is my favourite time of year and I couldn't have asked for a better one. There are some pictures above from Christmas eve and Christmas day which I thought I'd share with you.

As I was lucky enough to get the camera that I asked for for Christmas I decided to go for a walk close to my home on Boxing Day so I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite photo's I managed to capture with you below...

Christmas Tag

1. What is your favourite Christmas song?

I love so many Christmas songs and Michael Buble (who is one of my favourite singers anyway) has to be my favourite artist at Christmas but my favourite classic Christmas song is 'Last Christmas' by Wham!

2. What is your favourite festive drink?

Hot Chocolate on a cold night is one of my faves but I do also like a nice glass of mulled wine too!

3. What is your favourite Christmas film?

I also have a lot of Christmas films I love too so I don't think I could pick just one.. Christmas with the Kranks, the Santa Clause and Elf are a few of my favourite.

4. What is your favourite Christmas outfit?

I don't really have a favourite Christmas outfit but I do like to chill in my pj's with my family whilst we open our presents.

5. What's the best part of Christmas dinner?

Roasts are my favourite meals anyway but I'm a big fan of roast potatoes!

6. What's your favourite thing about Christmas?

Getting to spend time with my family and friends is my favourite part, especially watching TV on Christmas eve and opening all of the presents together on Christmas day.

7. What's your favourite Christmas food?

I'm not a fan of mince pies or Christmas pudding so I'd have to say Chocolate or Christmas dinner!

8. Do you love or loathe wrapping Christmas presents?

I LOVE wrapping up presents, all the nice paper and ribbons make it seem that bit more Christmassy and they look nice under the Christmas tree.

9. What's your best Christmas memory?

One Christmas memory that always seems to stand out to me is finding a present from 'Santa' at the end of my bed at about 4 in the morning and then going into my brother's room where he'd open his and then we'd wake up our parents so very early!

10. What's your favourite part of Christmas day?

Christmas eve/day is just the best time of the year anyway for me but I do enjoy just chilling opening presents and seeing the look on your family's faces when they open something you've bought them, then playing family games, listening to Christmas music and eating an amazing Christmas dinner!

Doing this Christmas tag has made me a lot more excited for Christmas now, let me know if you decide to do this tag too!

My Week #3

My week in pictures for the third time...

My eye make-up for the circus themed carnage and the stairs I created on sketch up for uni.

Getting the train home means a nice costa hot chocolate, some dogs that decided to sit next to me on the train and my view out of the window as I got closer to home.

Thumper was happy to see me home (apparently I look about 60 in this picture) and one of the many train stations I had to stop at on the way back to uni at night.

A trip to see Birmingham Library this week with uni.

More of Birmingham; Nando's (one of my favourite places to eat ever!), Selfridge's in Birmingham and a cheeky little shop in Lush!
