Barry M Nails Haul

This is a post that I've been meaning to write for such a long time! Barry M nails were on a 3 for 2 offer (I'm not sure if they still are as this was a couple of months ago now) and I picked up quite a mixture. The first is a lovely winter berry shade which has become one of my favourites over the past month or so, the second is much more of a summery, bright shade which I haven't worn too many times yet and the third is a lovely nude-grey which I think you could wear throughout the year, and it's also matte!

I never use to be a big fan of Barry M nail varnishes, back in school and college (okay, so maybe 5 or 6 years ago) I remember my friends raving about the brand and their nail range but I was never too keen. But how many years later and I think I own more nail polishes by Barry M than any other brand so I'd say they may be my favourite! The photo above shows each one with two coats of the polish on and I think they look amazing, they're so shiny (even the matte one looks quite shiny, there's another photo of this one on my instagram which you can see here).

The Perfect Mint Green Nail Polish

If you read my Summer Boots Haul post (here) you may have noticed I purchased this beautiful Maybelline Color Show nail polish. I'd gone through a phase of letting my nails breathe a little bit and as I looked through my box of nail polishes I didn't want to use any of them as they seemed too dark for what I like to wear in the summer or they were ones which I constantly wear.

So after raiding the Boots website I thought I'd go for a brand I don't own a nail polish in and I went for the Maybelline Color Show nail polish in the shade 'Green with Envy'. I thought this is a nice summer colour, different to any that I already own and a perfect mint green. It was also only £2.99 which I think is a bargain compared to what we can sometimes pay for just one nail polish I know already I'll get more use out of this one than my very bright orange Illamasqua nail polish.

I think I'll definitely look into buying some more from this range from Maybelline, they have so many shades available and I've been wearing this nail polish for a whole week now and it's only slightly chipped so I'd recommend it!

Pinterest Post #3 - Nails

Nail art and just generally painting my nails is something that I've always been into even from quite an early age. I remember having a little children's set of stick on nails and nail varnish with a little section to add glitter and what not. So in today's pinterest post I thought I'd share with you five of my favourite designs and looks from my Nails board.

OPI - You Don't Know Jacques Matte - Matte nails have been quite popular for a while now and I think they're still increasing in popularity. I'm still yet to try a matte nail polish however but I really like the look of this one, I think the neutral tonnes go well with the matte finish, and because I haven't used one before I think it'll be a better first try than the glossier brighter looks that I'm use to from blues to reds.

Black with Gold Stripes - I've seen this nail art technique quite a lot and really want to try it! This was done by painting the whole nail with the glitter/gold nail polish and when dry you cover the nail with tape which you want to keep this colour, and then paint your nails over the top in black. Then when this is dry you can peel off the tape and you'll have this look!

Scrabble Nails - I've never seen these before - I remember when the scrabble rings and necklaces were popular not too long ago and loved them, these remind me of them but even better! I'm not sure how they painted them so neatly so I'd never be able to re-create this but it's definitely my favourite from these top 5.

Florals - After all of the cold cold weather and snow we've had lately - I love snow, but not so much when I have to travel to work in it, I am SO ready for Spring. And this nail art reminds me of exactly that. Spring/Summer nails are all about the pretty flowers and I love this blue background too. I even think I might just be able to re-create these ones (I'll let you know).

Polka Dots - Polka dots are great for all year round but with this pastel mint green as the background it reminded me of Spring again and I seem to be in that frame of mind lately! I like creating this look myself and one of my favourite colour combinations is grey and white.

Summer Nail Art

Due to the sun deciding to finally make an appearance today it reminded me that I still haven't posted this summer nail art post! A few weeks ago I decided to play about with a few different nail art designs with some bright summer colours. I'm really pleased with how these came out so now I'm already looking forward to creating some autumn/winter designs!

Essie Nail Polish - Pink about it

Just a short post today so you can see the Essie nail polish in 'pink about it'. This is the first essie nail polish that I've bought and it was a bit of an impulse buy as it was only £2.50 from fragrance direct. I've really been into pastel nails lately ready for spring (although it's still definitely winter here in the uk).

This nail polish also has hints of glitter which you can see in this close up. They are harder to see on the nails, I used two coats which brought out the colour more, although I think it made the glitter a lot harder to see. I can't wait to wear this colour in the spring/summer sun!
